One may argue that all kinds of content writing services are creative writing services. Without creative writing skills, any piece of copy or text would be bland.

No one wants bland content writing. Not even Google.

My content writing services also encapsulate creative writing skills. Everything I write — blogs, SEO articles, press releases, website content — is creative. Even if that creativity is expressed within the rules and conventions of that particular form of writing.

However, even the most creative forms of writing come with some internal rules you ought to follow. They may be different rules, but they’re rules nonetheless.

So how are my creative writing services different from my content writing services?

To me, the difference between freelance content writing and freelance creative writing is a matter of degrees and gradations.

Creative writing, while still abiding by certain rules, has greater freedom of expression. Content writing services are more rigid, though you can still play within the boundaries of their rules.

Furthermore, creative writing is meant to entertain, inform, and engage the readers. Content writing services should also engage, but their primary purpose may be to sell, rank on Google, or achieve other quantifiable goals.

My creative writing services refer to creative nonfiction or essays, book writing services, and ghostwriting services. So let’s talk about my freelance creative writing services!

Creative Nonfiction Writing Service

Creative nonfiction writing refers to the act of creating well-written true stories. It’s all in the name — ‘creative’ refers to the literary craft; ‘nonfiction’ refers to the truth.

Creative nonfiction writing can include poetry, journalistic writing, research papers, or any other medium. However, creative nonfiction writing is often used synonymously with essay writing.

Who should seek out my creative nonfiction writing services?

Perhaps you have an interesting story to tell. Perhaps you want to capture your life experiences. Or maybe you want to write narrative nonfiction on someone else’s life. Writing an autobiography, memoir, or narrative nonfiction, is time-consuming and requires certain creative writing skills.

If you have the story, but not the creative writing skills to convey that story, I’m here for you.

Send me a brief gist of your story, in your own words. If I believe I’m up to the task, we can schedule a call. Based on your words, my follow-up questions, and our calls or meetings, I’ll gather all the information I need to tell your story.

I will, however, mention upfront that I don’t write poetry, especially nonfiction poetry. I call myself a content chameleon, but let’s extend that definition to a prosaic content chameleon. I’m skilled in all forms of content writing, except poetry.

Poetry is my one weakness, my kryptonite!

Summary of my Creative Nonfiction Writing Service:

  • Research to gather the information and facts necessary to convey the story.

  • Video calls or scheduled meetings to discuss the narrative.

  • Essay writing service to curate creative nonfiction prose or articles.

  • Well-researched narrative nonfiction writing, also known as literary journalism, based on an external subject.

  • Memoir writing service to tell your story.

Creative Fiction Writing Service

Even the most established writers have trouble telling convincing stories.

Creative fiction writing entails world creation, characterization, dialogue work, and so much more. You must understand how to balance mood/setting with action; thoughts with pace; thread multiple plots together; so much more.

Furthermore, you must be well-versed in the literary traditions of the story you’re telling. If you want to write a fantasy novel, for instance, you must understand how fantasy is generally created. Fantasy and science-fiction, for example, rely heavily on world-building. Meanwhile, introspective stories may be more focused on a character’s psyche rather than the external world.

Creative fiction writing entails balancing all of these concerns.

Perhaps you already have a brilliant story in your mind. You may also have the next Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, or Moby Dick in your mind! But if you can’t convincingly convey your story, those ideas will die in the deep recesses of your mind.

Find a fiction writer-to-hire — if you don’t like my writing style, that’s okay, find another fiction ghostwriter!

If you hire me as a novel writer, I’ll research your idea's literary traditions and convincingly tell your story. All you have to do is send me your fiction writing prompts, i.e., the basic outline or ideation for your story. I’ll do all the grunt work of putting it down on paper and constructing a narrative around it.

Everyone has a story in them. You just need someone to tell that story.

Summary of my Creative Fiction Writing Service:

  • Creative fiction writing service across mediums — novel writing, short story writing, novella writing, etc.

  • Creative fiction writing service across genres — fantasy, action, thriller, horror, historical fiction, fan fiction, romance, humor, erotic, etc.

  • Extensive research on fiction writing prompts.

  • Outline creation based on fiction writing prompts.

  • Book blurb writing service.

  • Complete editing and proofreading services after the book writing is done.

  • Formatting and typesetting according to publishing standards.

  • Assistance in finding an agent or publisher for creative fiction.

  • Ghostwriting book writing service.

Ghostwriting Service

Professional ghostwriting service is a process in which the author has the idea, and the ghostwriter puts it on paper.

The relationship between the author and the ghostwriter-for-hire is symbiotic. Some have even likened it to the relationship between a mother and a midwife. The author is the mother, giving birth to an idea. The ghostwriter is the midwife, aiding in the birth, seeing it to its creative fruition.

Some of the most popular examples of ghostwritten works of fiction are Ian Fleming’s James Bond, Tom Clancy, R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps. Popular authors often hire ghostwriters to keep up the demand with their subsequent series of books. Furthermore, famous public figures like Hillary Clinton and Gwyneth Paltrow have also used ghostwriters-for-hire for their books.

You may need ghostwriting services for various reasons. Some of my clients have an idea, but they lack the creative writing skills necessary to put it down on paper. Some of my clients are great writers, but they lead busy lives and don’t have the time to write a book. And some of my clients can’t structure their life stories into a book.

I provide both creative nonfiction and fiction ghostwriting services. As a freelance ghostwriter-for-hire, it’s my responsibility to understand your personality and narrative voice. I make sure the final book reads like it has been written by you.

I also work under an NDA or ghostwriter contract that you get to define. If you want my identity to be hidden completely, I respect that wish.

I’m an invisible hand.

Summary of my Ghostwriting Service:

  • Ghostwriting creative nonfiction or novels.

  • Interviews and research with the author to learn about your vision and idea.

  • Conceptualizing and outlining the ghostwriter book.

  • Ghostwriting chapters based on the interviews and notes.

  • Editing and finalizing chapters based on the author’s feedback.

  • Editing and proofreading services of the ghostwriting book.

  • Formatting and typesetting of the ghostwriting book according to the industry standards.

  • Book blurb writing service.

  • Assistance in searching for literary agents and publishers.

  • On-call availability to discuss any aspect of the ghostwriting project.

Creative Writing Service FAQs

+ What is creative writing in freelancing?

My content writing services include SEO writing, website content writing, press release writing, product review writing, email newsletter writing, etc. Content writing services are more rigid, with greater emphasis on following the established structures of the writing form. My creative writing services include creative nonfiction writing, creative fiction writing, and ghostwriting services. Creative writing services aren’t as rigid as content writing services, even though they also follow certain literary rules. Furthermore, creative writing services are focused on interpersonal interaction. I need to engage with you to tell your story. The ultimate goal of creative writing services is to engage, inform, and entertain readers. There are no ulterior motives.

+ What questions should a content writer ask?

While providing creative writing services, your content writer should discuss the following:

  • Your ghostwriter-for-hire should ask you about your ideas.
  • If you’re writing a memoir, the freelance creative content writer should have long discussions about your life. The content writer should ask pertinent questions about your life and personality.
  • If you’re writing a novel, the freelance ghostwriter or novel writer should ask for fiction writing prompts. They should ask you about the broad details of your story, upon which they will lay the narrative foundation.
  • The creative content writer should discuss your deadline.

You can test your content writer to determine if they’re suitable for the job in the following ways:

  • Give them fiction writing prompts similar to your genre to gauge their writing style.

  • Talk to the ghostwriter-for-hire to determine if they understand your idea.
  • Ask for regular content writing updates as they go along.

+ Are essay writing services legit?

Creative nonfiction and essay writing services are perfectly legitimate and safe. However, you must ensure complete originality.

There are a lot of cheap ghostwriting services and creative nonfiction writing services that spin old articles. Such ghostwriting and nonfiction writing companies give you versions of essays they may have written for other clients. As such, these essays get flagged as plagiarized, which can land you in a world of trouble.

You must ensure your narrative nonfiction, memoir, or essay is completely legitimate and original. I run my content through Copyscape Premium and TurnItIn — tools that flag plagiarism and ensure originality.

+ What is creative nonfiction writing? What are the forms of creative nonfiction?

Creative nonfiction writing is the act of conveying factually-accurate information in a literary style. Creative nonfiction writing is also known as essay writing, literary nonfiction writing, or narrative nonfiction writing.

Creative nonfiction writing is an extremely broad categorization. Some of the most popular forms of creative nonfiction are personal essays, literary journalism, autobiographies, travel writing, memoirs, etc.

+ Who hires ghostwriters? Why do people hire ghostwriters?

You may need to hire a ghostwriter if:

  • You have a brilliant idea but don’t have the creative writing skills to put it on paper.
  • You don’t have the time to write a book.
  • You may have strong creative writing skills, but you don’t know how to convey or structure your own story.

Examples of ghostwritten works include Ian Fleming’s James Bond, Tom Clancy, and R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps. Popular authors often hire ghostwriters to keep up the demand with their subsequent series or books.

Furthermore, famous public figures, such as celebrities and politicians, also hire ghostwriters for books. Some of the most popular public figures who’ve hired ghostwriters are Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

+ How do I hire a ghostwriter for a book?

The following are some steps to consider when you’re looking for a ghostwriter-to-hire:

  • Define your project’s goals clearly and set up a brief for the ghostwriter.
  • When you consider a ghostwriter, go through their creative writing examples. Gauge their creative writing skills to determine if you like their writing.
  • If you’re not convinced, send nonfiction or fiction writing prompts to the ghostwriter. Ask them to write a short sample for you if they’re willing. Determine if the ghostwriter-for-hire can accurately mimic the creative writing style you want.
  • Ask the ghostwriter for references. You must also consider that ghostwriter contracts often prevent them from disclosing their projects or clients. If they can’t offer references because of a ghostwriter NDA, their creative writing examples will have to suffice.
  • Talk to the ghostwriter extensively to gauge if they truly get your vision.
  • You should like working with the ghostwriter because they’ll soon become an intrinsic part of your life.
  • You may want to start with a single chapter to gauge how you work with each other.
  • If you’re interested, you can schedule a consultation and discuss the ghostwriting project!

+ How much does it cost to have someone write a book for you? What do ghostwriters charge?

The cost of writing a book depends on factors such as the genre, level of research necessary, whether the book writing process involves travel, and the length of the book.

However, beginner ghostwriters charge $12,000+ for a book with 200 to 300 pages. Ghostwriter rates differ based on location, experience, and much more. Please contact me through the form below to discuss my ghostwriting charges.

+ Do ghostwriters get royalties?

According to the Association of Ghostwriters (AOG), most ghostwriters get royalties of between 12 to 15% of the net proceeds. However, ghostwriters only get those royalties every six months based on the total volume of books sold. They only get royalties if the book has sold sufficiently well.

However, personally speaking, I don’t work for royalties. My ghostwriting services come with a flat rate, i.e., I have one-time ghostwriting charges with no expectation of royalties on sales. No matter how successful your book may be, I don’t lay claim to any of the proceeds. That’s written into my ghostwriting contract.

+ Do ghostwriters get credit?

In some cases, ghostwriters may get a mention under the “As Told To…” section of the book. However, in most cases, ghostwriters don’t get credit. It’s in the name — “ghostwriter,” i.e., a ghost or an invisible hand.

I also sign a ghostwriter NDA or ghostwriting contract that prevents me from disclosing information regarding our arrangement. As such, I fiercely protect your identity as an author.

Ghostwriting is legal because the original idea originates from the credited author. You come up with the idea, and the ghostwriter merely provides the language or creative writing skills. As such, ghostwriting is perfectly legal and ethical.

The only instances in which ghostwriting is deemed unethical is in relation to academic work. For example, an academic student can’t hire a ghostwriter to write their doctoral thesis. They may hire a ghostwriter for editing and proofreading services, but not for academic writing.

I only provide my ghostwriting services for ethical/legal non-academic books.

+ How does a ghostwriter work?

The following is an overview of my ghostwriting process:

  • Interviewing the author to learn about their vision and idea.
  • Conceptualizing and outlining the ghostwriting book.
  • Researching the ghostwriting book’s subject matter.
